In lesson we have been making a website (portfolio) for all our work in lessons. We made the website using  a site called Wix  (http://www.wix.com/) which gives you  templates to use to create and helped organize the website. The reason why we used Wix is because it was a site that was simple and easy to follow and you wouldn't get confused so easily.

We did some research for the work like what Wix template to use (shown below) I decided to use the second one because looked simple and was easy to navigate through it.


After deciding on the background we had to research other peoples portfolios, I had a look at Leah Jade's, Mike Kus, and Mr Stitch Films. I looked at the individuals themes, what they focus on, what stands out, things that work well with the site,and things that didn't work that well with the site

My work was influenced by the sites I looked at because it gave me the basic Idea's I needed to organize the site and what the layout should look like, for example if there was only one thing on the page don't put into the corner centralize it.


I think I did well in organizing the work so it would be easy to navigate to, and to make the website itself easy to use I could improve my work by tidying it up a bit although easy to navigate through the images could all be the same size in the thumbnails and they could be in netter columns and rows.

I have learnt how to use Wix and how to make a fully functional website that is easy to use. I have also learnt how to use all the mechanics that are needed to  use Wix, like how to add pages, make images open up when clicked, send to website links, and how to navigate through the site with only a few clicks.




The benefits of using interactive media for a portfolio is that all your work will all be in one place so it's easy to locate.

Website design part 4

I started today of byredoing all the work I lost in nthe second session last week. which was the Harry potter trip and Hogwarts castle pictures for the Photography section of the website.

I took a select 7 pictures that I liked from my Harry Potter trip and added them to the Harry Potter trip section addidng the pop up feature.

I then addeda seprete section to have some of the pictures I took of Hogwarts castle which opens when you click on the bigger picture in the picture above on the website. tat leads to the page with a select few pictures of the castle.

I then added the new project wheredoing in photogrphy which is Pop art.

The Screen shot shows the Icon you press to access the Photoshop freak or Unique and then the two place holders for video game design and Misc.

After this I put the pictures that we did in the freak or Unique Photoshop

After that I put all the concept ideas I made for my video game design where we had to create our characters, villian, level design and secret.

I then went and found all the misc work that I did which didn't have a catogary. and put them all in spot.

Next thing I did was put the pop up feature on all of them meaning when you click on the image the image will be in full view.

This is the black and white edits which you can find under the photography section which will take you to a link that will take you to the subject folder click on film Noir and then  black and white edits.

I changed the title from small brand to My work, I also changed the background from blank to Pineapples (which is not mine) The home page will have the latest video to showcase developing skills.

Added the latest video done in lesson and changed the Navigation bar

I changed the thumbnail pictures to my own and when you click on them they will send you to the tilted page e.g. click photography it will send you to the photography page. I also made the collection segment connect to the photography graphics and film and audio section so it made a drop down option.

In this session Charlotte had us go one to to Wix and create an account so we could make a website later on. we then had to go onto design,Portfolio which sent us to a page which let us go to the template page, where we had to select three different templates that would compliment our work.

There is no particular theme in this design it's quite simple they seem to focus on photos, films and blogs.
The thing that stands out the most is that when you open the blog you straight away see a video that has been done and starts playing straight away.
I would categorize them into sections of film, photography and graphics.
The things that stand out well is how you can easily navigate through the page.
The template would compliment the work because it's simple and not much is going off so you will e focused on what is being shown on the page.

The theme for this template is art , it focuses on images and graphic details.

What stands out most for me is the deer in the background image , the colors stand out .

I would categorize this with photography and graphic images.

The layout works well because the first page introduces the theme , and the navigation bar sends you to all of the information about the work and in particular what you need to know about it.

However , the text is a bit too small for my liking and it blends into the background too much.

The template style matches with my creativity.

I like the background design because it stands out and it is colorful.

The theme for this template is media.The monitor stands out the most because it changes image every few seconds.I would categorize my work in sections of graphics , photography and film.The layout is simple to navigate , however there is not much color throughout the template.It compliments the work i do because it is media based and the majority of my work is focused around media.I like the pictures included and the way the text is presented.

The template i have chosen is the first one i looked at , this is because it's simple , easy to navigate , the things you post onto it stand out and the opening page plays a video straight away.

The themes that can be seen in the design are mixed because you can see Commissioned work from company like Berocca, and other company's.
The things that stand out on this website are how the pictures presented on the page.
The designer categorizes there work using photography and graphics.
The things that work well are how  if you hover the image you get a brief explanation of what it's linked to.
The website doesn't display enough information, so people new to the site might not be able to navigate it easily.
The layout of the page shows the imagination of the creator because of how it's laid out and shows the variety of work that they have done.
I  like how the page is laid out and how they allow you to navigate by showing a quick summery so you know if that's what your looking for.

The themes that you can see is photography on horses and animals.
The thing that stands out the most is when you click on the portfolio you are sent to all the pictures that they have taken and how they are laid out so you see them in good quality.
The things that work well with this website is how easy it is to navigate through because everything is in the bar at the top and if you click on them they send you to the places you selected and tell you information you need to know about the person.
The website layout compliment the work because when you go onto the portfolio it shows the work and to see the next page of the work they have done you just have to push the arrow button.

The themes that can be seen on the website are the films that they have directed which seem to be mostly directed towards the horror channel.
The things that stand out the award they have for the films they have made at the top of the page.
the things that work is that the navigation links are at the top of the page which can take you to the shop or how to contact the person.
The thing that don't work out are the awards have bits cut off so you can't see the full image.
The things that work well are that if you click on the posters it sends you to YouTube with an advertisement on the selected film.
